Srinagar, Nov 13 (KNO): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday have arrested four drug peddlers including a lady drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
“A Police party headed by SHO Police Station Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Mirchipora Tangmarg intercepted two persons who have been identified as Mohammad Saleem Lone son of Gh Nabi & Furqaan Ahmad Lone son of Manzoor Ahmad both residents of Mirchipora Tangmarg. During the search, 35 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from their possession,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Similarly, Police party led by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Drangbal Baramulla intercepted two suspicious persons. During the search, 70 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Amin resident of Jalsheeri and a lady resident of Chellan Boniyar, the statement reads.
“All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated,” police said.
“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” the statement reads—(KNO)
